Thanks to All the folks at HSC for a great nationals.
There was obviously so much work and effort put into it that things were really great from this competitor’s point of view.
The race management team was superb led by former Sonata racer and current Sigma Supremo Donald McLaren
The cheap and very smooth lifting in on the first day and out again on the last day (today).
The marina deal.
The sponsor prizes with smaller day prizes up for grabs.
The daily prizegiving from the shouty bloke.
Excellent local turn out and a warm welcome.
The new clubhouse and reasonably priced beer.
Thanks can you do it again in a couple of years?
A report and results can soon be seen on the website for this fantastic event. Many thanks to HSC for organising the Nationals this year, its great to be able to take the fleet around the country and have competitive sailing and great social wherever we go.
See you all in Whitby
Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. I think Chris might be a bit upset if we did it in 2 years but maybe 3.
Did the Avon (not dinghy) work on the midges?
Hope to see you all again soon.
‘Fireplace’ (that might be a bit too old for most people to remember)
Can I also add my thanks via a post as well as my rather daft speech on the Saturday evening. I endorse everything Neil has said, except of course that 2012 is for Medway!
We have been set a very high bar by Helensburgh but we will do our very best to match it. Thanks again.
PS: Wee footnote:Just driven back from Whitby where BFG now is – poor thing has done more road miles than the last 5 years of sea miles! It is a delightful place. BUT, PLEASE, if there is any chance you can support Whitby, please, please do so. They have worked very hard on the Northerns. See also my other post “What About Whitby” Thanks.
Thanks, Peter, for a great race report. You were obviously either using a Dictaphone or paying much more attention to the whole race scenario than my crew was
In which case can I either:
borrow your Dictaphone for 2012 or,
press gang you onto a Medway boat to do the same in 2012.
Either way, thank you for your post. It was a fair and complete summary of the 2010 Nationals.
