Hi,
I’d like to ask other’s opinions about the idea of allowing a Single Point Lift being accepted as a mod in the Sonata, to remain within the class Rules for racing.
I’m keen on the idea of a single Point Lift as it would be much more convenient, easier and cheaper for me to lift in and out in my situation. However I would not make this mod if it meant that I’d be out of class for racing as my sole purpose in owning the Sonata is to race against other Sonatas!!
I plan to propose that a single point lift mod be accepted within the class rules at the upcoming AGM-17th October, but welcome views.

The AGM were inclined to adopt the idea of a single point lift, with the sonata remaining in class.
Technical Guy, Martin Hartley, will look into appropriate wording.
I believe no spec will be promoted.

Excellent!

I’ve rattled on about this before.
Seems like a sensible idea. It is quicker, more secure and better for the boat than messing around with strops, spreaders etc..
My only problem with it is that in boats like mine with keel studs with glassed in nuts it is a fairly significant thing to achieve with which I would want professional help.
