Sorry for another post!
I have just returned from doing a rushed job on anti-fouling my sonata. The one thing I noticed was the keel had a few pits and depressions in it, I assume from rusting. The general appearance is not very smooth, and whilst I sure it would be okay for cruising I am intending on racing and this bumpy keel won’t improve my performance. What would be the best way to smooth the keel – does anyone have any experience of this.
On another point what is the filler used where the keel joins the hull!?
the compound we use and have done for a few years is just car body filler the reason for the cracks etc is because the boat is standing on its keel when in the cradle as when in water the keel is hung from the hull so the best thing we found was to use car body filler which works great as you can sand it down the antifoul the boat and keep a nice smooth finnish also for the keel use chemical metal and sand down the paint with primmer (red oxide) the antifoul
