Hi,
Looking to buy a new Genoa #1 and have looked at two suppliers, Goacher and North Sails for a Pentex.
Clearly Goacher are used extensively but North have a great name in racing circuits.
Any thoughts on which one to choose?
thanks

Thanks Mark,
In the end decided to go with Goacher and therefore follow the herd

Happy New Year!
Unless there is someone at North who is actually sailing a Sonata and knows how the rig is set up with little tension, sagging forestay and so on I would personally be very nervous about going to someone other than Goacher or Nicholson Hughes for a Sonata genoa. However, one of the south coast guys might know what results North are getting down there on Sonatas.
The results are however quite clear with regards to performance at the Nationals, Scottish Series, Inlands or Scottish nationals – you go with Goacher unless you are Pied Piper, who won Scottish Series with NH sails and I think Baby Grand was top 10 at 2008 Nationals, again with MH.
I guess if it were a spinnaker then the case for going to any of the top sailmakers is easier to make as items such as rig tension etc are less relevant.
Just my thoughts and it will be interesting to see the reaction of those who are less sheep-like than me in their gear and sail selections!!
regards
Mark
