I have an IYE mast. Are they softer than a Proctor and should they be set up differently to a Proctor.

I had an IYE for a bit and now have a proctor. The IYE was stiffer.
T
he Sonata spreaders are in line so there is no basic difference in the set up and I set them both up exactly the same.
The main practical difference is that with the proctor if I use any kicker at all then it bends the mast (which depowers the main a bit) so to get leech tension I only use the mainsheet.
Unless I do want to flatten the main a bit – for instance when the wind starts to get up.
With the IYE I did use the kicker a bit more in lower wind speeds

Proctor Mast are very strong mast and are well known to be we have the original proctor mast that came with our boat five years ago and it is still going strong and takes a battering every year,
all mast types have their own setting up guide lines but its best to follow steve goachers set up instructions, then once you have set it up to hes guidelines then you can twick it and see if there is any diffrence,
go to goachersails.co.uk and print it off if you havent already
