Afternoon All,
I have an old mast on my Sonata ‘Volante’, which I believe is an IYE mast. Unfortunately the mast foot has become damaged – the hole the bolt goes through to attach the mast to the deck plate has sheared.
Does anyone know where/whether I can get a replacement or whether it can be fixed?
Does anyone have a secondhand replacement available, perhaps on a broken mast?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks
Alan

Nightmare. Yeah, that definitely can not be fixed. Easiest fix would be if anyone has an old bent/broken IYE mast they might give/sell you the foot from.
Try the Sonata Facebook group and also the West Coast Snottas Facebook group, might find someone there.

Hi Alan,
Many years ago I replaced the mast foot on my Sonata IYE mast. I managed to get a mast foot from I think it was a Procter mast and initially it would not fit into the bottom of the IYE mast but using a power file I ground out the obstructing part and then bolted the the foot right through. I also had to replace the deck shoe to match the new foot and grind slots in the mast for the halyards to come out and run down to the blocks on the new mast foot. This arrangement is still working.
Good luck
