Does the Sonata have a IRC handicap rating?
I seem to remember at the Tay Nationals that the class would sponsor a boat to be measured, and if I remember right Matt Glasgow (Cobweb) was going to allow the use of his.
Was anything done?

IRC handicap is obtainable from the RORC rating office. As the Sonata is a one design you need to fill in the one design form. This saves measuring the boat so long as yours conforms to the class rules. You then send the form off with the appropriate fee to get your IRC ticket. Since they require renewing in January I should wait untill then new year.
the form is on the RORC rating office website http://rorcrating.com/ir2000/irc/Oodlist.htm

Thanks for the answer Ghostbuster.
I found the website last night and downloaded the information.
Assuming all Sonata’s are classed the same (not sure about fin and lifting keel – not specified on application form.) does anyone know the IRC handicap?.
I’ve email RORC and asked the question, when I get an answer I’ll post it here.

Hi,
I’ve just received a reply about the IRC Sonata rating, at the moment it’s 0.825 but will be changing in 2004 – what to I don’t know.
