Dear All
In the light of people wanting to come to this years Sonata Nationals in Abersoch, it has come to our attention, that there are a few Sonatas that do not have a current measurement certificate. Many boats would like to race in the nationals, but at the moment it specified that boats must be a member of the association and have a valid measurement certificate.
After discussion with the RYA we have decided to appoint a new class measurer for the north of England, as all current listed measurers are in the South of the England. Therefore we have asked an RYA approved Hunter 707 measurer to become a Sonata Measurer. He is very experienced and will be issued with all the Sonata Class Rules regarding measurement as well as the forms from the RYA. At the moment I am just getting the paperwork signed but it is hoped he will be able to measure boats for the nationals so they can have a certificate issued.
I know of 3 boats at present who would like to be measured. I am going to talk to the measurer to see how much he will charge and how far he will travel.
If you are planning on coming to the nationals this year and need your boat measured please let me know asap. This does not include sail measurement – please make sure if you are buying new sails for the nationals that they have been measured and stamped before the event – your sailmaker should be able to do this.
Any problems please let myself or Martin know
Look forward to seeing you all at the Nationals in September
