I’ve just bought PINTSIZE and she will be joining the Solent fleet in 2009.
Any tips on fitting a full width mainsheet track and centre cockpit footrest please?
Can I simply bolt the new track to the cockpit seats or do I need to reinforce the undersides in some way?
Bolting an aluminium tube to the underside of the new track and the transom seems the obvious footrest solution, or is there a better one please?
Thanks

You will have fun bolting a mounting for the support bar to the transom. It is hollow.
What I did when I bought Sarabande was to make a plywood pad about 12CM square and 1.5CM deep with a hole in the middle for the support bar. I then thoroughly cleaned the transom where the pad was going to fit and rubbed it down with coarse glass paper. I also keyed the face of the pad that was going to be against the transom. Using four large gauge screws and a coating of silicone adhesive sealant I then fixed the pad in place on the transom. Silicone is powerful stuff. Now that it has set I suspect that I could remove the screws and stand on the bar without it coming off.
At the front I have a central pillar under the main sheet track which both supports the track and provides a place to fix the main sheet jammer. I tried to and failed to drill a hole in the stainless steel plate to which the main jammer is attached. The intention being to use a bolt to secure the support bar. As a temporary measure I used a jubilee clip held in place by small alloy plates between the bolts that hold the jammer down.
This appears to be rock solid with 14 stone of me crashing around in the back. This winter I am going to reseal the joint between the bottom of the central pillar and the floor of the cockpit and will take the opportunity to drill the hole that I need using a mains power drill and bolt the support bar in place.
I think that I am going to horrified by the weight of the pillar when I get it out. Top and bottom plates are made from 5mm stainless. I suspect that the 5CM diameter upright tube is also stainless since it is welded to the plates.
Has anybody got pics, drawings or a description of a lighter way of supporting the track and mounting the main jammer?
