Foot Bar

18th August 2000

The Sonata lacks any natural footrest for the helmsman and I am finding it difficult to brace myself in one place when going to windward in anything like a reasonable breeze and chop.
Any suggestions on fitting a footrest ?

The usual thing is a ‘parrot perch’ or length of aly tubing running back from the middle of the mainsheet track to the transom. It does get in the way when tacking though so for some fancier ideas see the page on mainsheet systems in the ‘hints and tips’ section of this website.
