Does anyone know where we can get a replacement winch handle for our lifting keel, or a template so that we can get one made? Unfortunately we lost ours overboard!

Hi there Bob,

If you have trouble getting hold of one,I could trace around mine and send you a copy (with dimensions) Assuming your winch is the same as mine.

Hope this helps you.

I’ll try and take pictures of the winch and handle on mine on the weekend.

Here are some pictures on the setup on my boat – if your setup is the same I could send some measurements – let me know.

Hi,

I had one made from an old winch handle – Cut off the winch fitting end then drilled a 15mil hole in the end with a smaller half hole to lock the handle under the pinion

Works realy well – only to 1/2 an hour to make

reel easy fix

Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for the advice, offers and photos. I noticed an adjustable spanner in the boat’s tool kit that looked about the right size (and had a hole in the end). It fits perfectly, so one of the jobs for this winter is to use its shape as a template to make a new one. The spanner has served us extremely well for the last few weekends afloat. Its amazing how we can improvise when we have to. (and we know we have an alternative should the new handle ever go overboard)

Thanks

Bob
